2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, refined and technologically enhanced
August 19 2014,
Mercedes-Benz has given its sporty C-Class sedan a full redesign for the 2015 model year. It is now more refined than its predecessor, and should remain one of the top choices in the luxury sport sedan segment. From the 2015 C-Class, consumers can expect a larger vehicle with more room and increased versatility.
No one can deny the incredible appeal of the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which sports a very attractive exterior styling. It is indeed sleek-looking with sharp headlights, and nice bodylines, all of which makes it bolder for 2015. Buyers will find LED static headlights that come standard with the C-Class, and active LED high performance headlights are optional. In addition, LEDs can be found in the taillights as well, and the new generation is also said to be 100 kg lighter.
On the inside, drivers can enjoy a high-class interior filled with finely crafted details, and materials that are pleasant to the touch – elements that one can naturally expect from a Mercedes-Benz vehicle of this calibre.
The automaker has also described certain details in such a way that enthusiasts may be prone to agree. For example, “a large one-piece center console panel performs an elegant sweep from the centre air vents to the armrest. These seamless clear-cut lines create a sense of open space and convey a thrillingly purist and modern feel.”
A touchpad in the handrest also allows drivers to use their fingers; handwriting letters, numbers and special characters that, more impressively, can be done in any language. This feature offers simple and intuitive operations that are similar to that of a smartphone.
As we await the specifications for the Canadian market, we know that the 2015 C-Class comes available in two models: the C 300 4MATIC with a starting price of $43,000 MSRP, and the C 400 4MATIC, offered from $51,400. Based on specs from the U.S., consumers can expect to find a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine under the hood of the first model, generating an estimated 235 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
The C400, on the other hand, will provide owners with an estimated 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque from the turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine. Both models are to be equipped with all-wheel drive, mated to 7-speed automatic transmission, and should include a new four-link front suspension that is standard across the board for all 2015 C-Class vehicles.
Consumers should also anticipate several technologies, and specifically features meant to enhance vehicle and passenger safety. The new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class incorporates most of the new assistance systems that are meant to increase comfort and safety. The automaker has summed it up as “Intelligent Drive.”
Other technologies to look out for include Collision Prevention Assist Plus, where the system will autonomously brake if the danger of a collision persists and the driver does not respond to the situation.
Distronic Plus, Bas Plus Brake Assist, Enhanced Active Lane Keeping and Active Parking Assist, and a 360° camera are also worth looking into. Buyers can request the possibility of testing these features when booking a road test with their Ogilvie Mercedes-Benz dealer.
