2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class – The full review

For anyone that has dreamed of getting their hands on a Mercedes-Benz luxury model, yet found the price tag too steep, we suggest taking a spin in the 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. The automaker’s entry-level luxury sedan, known as a 4-door coupe, is offered in three trims: CLA 250, CLA 250 4MATIC, and CLA 45 AMG, offering a sexy, eye-catching style, and power and performance that one can truly appreciate.
Under the hood, the CLA 250 front-wheel drive model is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that provides sufficient power with its total 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Expand you budget, and you can opt for the incredibly potent CLA 45 AMG that is also equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine, and pushes 355 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. All versions of the CLA-Class are mated to a crisp-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and only the 45 AMG comes standard with the automaker’s 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system.
Acceleration from 0-100km/h for the base model is 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h. This version gets an estimated fuel economy rating of 6.6 litres per 100 kilometres (city/highway). Consumers looking to opt for the CLA 45 AMG can expect a top speed of 250 km/h, impressive acceleration of 0-100km/h I 4.6 seconds, and a combined fuel consumption rating of 7.9 L/100km.
Buyers of the new 2015 CLA 250 models may find that it accelerates and steers with the precision of a higher-end Mercedes-Benz model, and the quick-shifting automated manual can be quite enjoyable. The CLA 45 AMG takes it up several notches with its sizzling performance, firm grip, and heightened steering precision.
On the inside, the vehicle has a well-appointed and quiet interior that feels even more luxurious than its starting price would suggest. In terms of features, a 12-way power adjustable sport seats with memory, a 3-spoke leather multifunction steering wheel, and a 4.5-inch colour display is available depending on the model.
Consumers can also opt for the many available equipment packages, such as the Premium Package that includes a rearview camera, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, and automatic climate control, among other elements. There is also a Sport, Exclusive, Driving Assistance, and AMG Driver’s Package. The Driving Assistance Package adds safety features like a blind spot and lane keeping assist system, which is also offered in the CLA 45 AMG Premium Package. Brake and hill start assist, acceleration skid control, and dynamic cornering assist are standard.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class luxury 4-door coupe is not only incredibly stylish due to its premium looks, but it is also very accessible considering it’s under $35,000 MSRP base price. With its sporty performance, and the option of an adrenaline-inducing CLA 45 AMG model, the 2014 CLA-Class is truly worth considering.
