The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic: Finalist for Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year
Introduced last year, the 2017 GLC 300 4Matic quickly drew rave reviews by the specialized media. The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada has just named it as a finalist for the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, a major award that will be handed out in February.
If the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 stands out in its segment, it’s because it offers an almost perfect balance between sportiness and comfort, and can thus fulfill the needs of a variety of different owners looking for different characteristics in their luxury SUVs. The GLC 300 also has an advantage over the Audi Q5 as it is newer and thus offers more recent and advanced technologies and equipment.
Starting at $ 45,150, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine developing 241 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque available from only 1,300 rpm. Powerful, this engine allows the GLC 300 to reach 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds. On the other hand, the base price of the Audi Q5 is a little lower, but its standard engine offers only 220 horsepower.
Even though the GLC 300 is more powerful than the Q5, the luxury compact SUV from Mercedes-Benz is more fuel efficient with an average fuel consumption rating of 11.1 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 8.5 liters per 100 Kilometers on the highway. The Audi Q5 offers an average fuel consumption rating of 12.0 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 8.6 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.
If you want a bit more power, Mercedes-Benz recently introduced the GLC 43 AMG, a much more powerful version that offers 362 horsepower from a 3.0-liter biturbo engine. That power enables the GLC 43 AMG to reach 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The GLC 43 AMG is more powerful than the Audi SQ5 which offers 354 horsepower.
