2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs 2020 Jaguar F-Pace
August 29 2020,
The Mercedes-Benz GLC first hit the market a few years ago, but it continues to be one of the most popular luxury compact SUVs in Canada year after year. Part of the success of the Mercedes-Benz GLC can be attributed to its styling, but also to its combination of cutting-edge technology, top-level performance, interior space and versatility.
The success of the Mercedes-Benz GLC has inspired other manufacturers to join in the parade, notably Jaguar with the F-Pace. Despite several interesting elements present in the F-Pace, it struggles to come close to the sales numbers posted by the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Here are a few reasons why.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is more efficient
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This engine is well ahead of the base engine in the 2020 Jaguar F-Pace, a four-cylinder turbo too, but only developing 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The F-Pace being heavier, the differences in performance are immediately noticeable.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 offers a powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 385 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque that can reach 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. In the case of the F-Pace, the only comparable engine is the F-Pace S's supercharged V6 which offers 375 horsepower, but only 332 lb-ft of torque. It takes more than a second longer for the F-Pace S to reach 100 km/h.
Note also that the Jaguar F-Pace is not offered in a hybrid version while the GLC offers a not only a hybrid, but also a plug-in hybrid.
It offers better comfort
On the road, those who have had the chance to try the GLC will tell you that its comfort is superior to that of the F-Pace. It's quieter, more agile at low speeds, and its seats keep you in place better.
Its reliability has been repeatedly proven
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC is one of Mercedes-Benz's most reliable vehicles, which has often been praised for its durability and build quality. The Jaguar F-Pace has had its share of problems, and British reliability is far from constant.
