2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe vs. BMW 4-Series: for the complete picture
August 12 2021,
When it comes to targeting a rivalry in the automotive industry, it's hard to find one stronger than the one between Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
For decades, these two great companies have been competing to offer more and more to the public. In the end, it is the public that wins, because they are offered more and more refined models.
This is exactly the case with the two coupes we're comparing here, the 2-door version of the C-Class and the BMW 4-Series, which is a coupe by definition.
Let's see what allows the Mercedes-Benz representative to rise above its rival.
Style
The style of a model is always a matter of taste. However, with the direction BMW is taking with the grille of its models, let's just say it's not unanimous. You don't have that problem with the C-Class, which is beautiful from all angles. In fact, it follows the Mercedes-Benz tradition of offering class from every angle.
Interior presentation
Inside, there are two different worlds. Things are changing at BMW, but only timidly. With the C-Class Coupe, we get a more modern presentation. What's more, the digital display of the screens that rest before your eyes is stunningly clear. It's by far the most visually stunning approach to any display in the industry.
And to that, let's add an imponderable element; you feel good inside a C-Class coupe. The environment is warm, not cold, like in the 4 Series.
The powertrains
Here, the two companies compete to offer you the ultimate. Basically, there are three offerings on each side, each more powerful than the other. For the performance enthusiast, there's a little extra on the Mercedes-Benz side.
In the case of the base versions, the 300 4Matic at Benz and the 430i xDrive at BMW, the cavalry is the same at 255 horsepower.
Switching to the AMG C 43 model, you get 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque with Mercedes' 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine. The enemy's 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine offers 382 horsepower, but 368 lb-ft of torque.
Then, with the ultra-high-performance models that are the C 63 S and the M4, the difference is more noticeable. Above all, the philosophy is incomparable. At BMW, we turned to the turbocharged 6-cylinder. It's good for 473 horsepower. However, the sound is not there.
With the C 63 S, you get a roaring V8 engine, as well as 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Incomparable.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class or the BMW 4 Series. Reading the above clearly put us on the right track.
