2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB vs. 2021 Lexus UX: Spacious and Powerful
January 28 2021,
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB provides the family with the best of everything; plenty of room, advanced technologies, performances and signature Mercedes-Benz style that rivals just can’t provide.
Here, we compare it to the 2021 Lexus UX.
Much more power in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is a compact luxury family vehicle, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deliver in terms of performance. The GLB 250 4MATIC is equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that boasts 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque – which represents plenty of power for your daily commute and weekend adventures. Need more performance? The GLB added an AMG version to its lineup: the AMG 35 4MATIC. This variant brings the power to 302 horsepower and the torque to 295 lb-ft of torque.
Both engines are paired with a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission as well as the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system for maximum control in all weather conditions.
The 2021 Lexus UX also offers two power levels. The first variant is the UX 200 and it is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that only outputs 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. This unit is paired with a continuously variable transmission. Not only is this engine critically underpowered compared to the GLB 250, but its CVT transmission also provides much less excitement. To make things even worst, this variant is FWD.
The top model in the UX lineup is the UX 250h hybrid model. Although it provides more power and AWD, it only produces 181 horsepower, falling short of the GLB’s base engine and way behind the AMG 35 variant.
Needless to say, the Mercedes-Benz GLB provides much better performance than the Lexus UX.
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB provides more space and technology
First off, the GLB is much more spacious than the Lexus UX thanks to many features. For example, it offers the possibility of a third row of passengers, letting owners transport as many as 7 occupants. The GLB also deploys a total of 1,755 litres of total cargo space when the seats are folded, letting you load up on camping gear, moving boxes or as many grocery bags as needed. The Lexus UX provides much less space for passengers and cargo.
On the technology side, the GLB provides owners with the MBUX system with user-friendly voice-activated commands, a much more intuitive system than the UX’s offering with a complex Remote Touch system.
