2023 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs. 2023 BMW 3-Series: the battle has been won
September 16 2022,
While there are many good rivalries throughout the industry, none is more visceral than the one between the compact sedans of Mercedes-Benz and BMW. These models have been battling it out for decades now, and enthusiasts are still asking the same question; which one is better?
Well, we can finally answer that question in a clear way. So here's why the 2023 C-Class is a superior car to the 2023 BMW 3 Series.
Technology
Today, we have to talk about in-car technology. It's part of every owner's daily routine. With the 3-Series, we're well served, no question about it. However, how can a model compete with Mercedes-Benz's multimedia approach? The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system is an industry benchmark and the graphic quality of the screens offered is unmatched. And the way it's all presented, visually, is absolutely beautiful at Benz.
Really, for a technological advantage, the C-Class is where it's at.
The performance
As we know, BMW's M models have always been performance benchmarks. However, this is no longer the case. What's more, Mercedes-Benz is going to use more efficient powertrains, whereas the new C-Class only offers a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which is tuned differently to deliver the required power, depending on the version. The 300 and AMG 43 models are already available. Soon, the AMG 63 version will show up with a 4-cylinder engine that will be helped by an electric motor mounted on the rear axle to offer a combined power of about 660 horsepower.
That's over 100 more horsepower than BMW's most powerful M version offers in this class. And we're still on the 6-cylinder engine at this point.
Clear advantage with the C-Class.
Style and image
Styling is a matter of taste, but we prefer the new C-Class to the 3 Series. What's not debatable, however, is that you get the high-class image that comes with a Mercedes-Benz. With BMW, the image is strong, but it does not have the same aura. That's why you can't go wrong with a C-Class, whereas with a 3-Series, you'll more easily regret your choice.
