All-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Is Coming to Canada This Year

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV introduced this week is the latest electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, and the all-new flagship EV from the German automaker. The new EQS SUV will arrive on the market later this year after going on sale this summer.
Based on the EQS electric luxury sedan introduced last year, the EQS SUV is essentially an electrified version of the flagship electric sedan with many of the same features. The EQS SUV and the EQS share the same wheelbase, for example, and they both offer the impressive Hyperscreen inside, a massive glass plate that envelops the entire dashboard and houses three distinct screens including a centre 17.7-inch display.
That said, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is more spacious than the EQS sedan. It offers five- and seven-seat configurations, and over 2,000 litres of cargo space. The five-seat EQS SUV will offer 645 litres behind the rear seats while the 7-seat version will offer 565 litres.
The EQS SUV shares the same powertrain options as the EQS sedan, but the SUV will offer slightly more range. The 108 kWh battery will offer over 600 km of range according to Mercedes-Benz. This battery can be charged on a 200-kW DC fast charger or a 22-kW AC charger. Two versions of the EQS SUV will be offered when the model goes on sale later this year:
- 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 4Matic
- 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4Matic
Both models will feature all-wheel drive. The EQS SUV 450 4Matic will deliver 355 horsepower while the more powerful EQS SUV 580 4Matic will deliver 536 horsepower. The EQS SUV will also feature a new rear-wheel steering system that offers 4.5 degrees of rotation in base models, and 10 degrees in better equipped versions. That means that the EQS SUV will be very agile and will feel a lot smaller than it actually is.
