Experience the Power Surge: The New Mercedes-AMG EQS 4MATIC+ Sedan
June 28 2023,
In an ambitious drive towards an all-electric future, Mercedes-AMG embarks on a thrilling journey with the new EQS 4MATIC+. Crafted on the Mercedes EQ platform for luxury and executive-class vehicles, the AMG EQS 4MATIC+ features an impressive output of up to 750 horsepower, setting the stage for future high-performance electric vehicles from the automaker.
The EQS 4MATIC+ is powered by a performance-oriented dual motor setup, each motor placed at the front and rear axles. The basic version achieves a maximum total output of 658 hp, with a motor torque of 750 lb-ft. An added boost function in RACE START mode pushes the total output to 750 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds when the battery charge level is at least 80 percent.
The power is expertly managed by the standard AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel-drive system, offering a faster response compared to a mechanical all-wheel-drive system. The torque is examined 10,000 times per minute and adjusted if necessary. Selected driving modes dictate torque distribution, prioritizing efficiency in "Comfort" mode, while "Sport" and "Sport+" modes provide a rear-biased torque for enhanced lateral dynamics.
The AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension, standard in the AMG EQS 4MATIC+, is a sophisticated blend of an air suspension system with adaptive, electronically controlled adjustable damping and standard rear-axle steering. The suspension control unit utilizes data from various sensors to adjust the damping force for each wheel in milliseconds. This precise control improves both ride comfort and driving dynamics, providing a unique balance between sportiness and comfort.
Significant strides have been made in the exterior design, translating characteristic AMG features to the all-electric age. The EQS 4MATIC+ boasts a unique one-bow silhouette, cab-forward design with hatchback, and a distinctive front view characterized by DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps and an AMG-specific black panel grille.
On the inside, the EQS 4MATIC+ comes with the innovative MBUX Hyperscreen as standard. This screen unit, extending from one A-pillar to another, merges three screens under a glass cover. The software adapts to the user, providing personalized suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort, and vehicle functions.
Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes‑AMG GmbH, expressed optimism about the AMG EQS 4MATIC+ attracting new clientele. Further, Chief Technical Officer, Jochen Hermann, assured that the electrified AMG models would continue to deliver dynamic and emotional driving experiences.
