Mercedes-Benz may be restructuring its SUV lineup
Mercedes-Benz already offers a rather extensive lineup of sport utility vehicles starting with the GLA unveiled last year. The latter serves as the entry-level model while the G-Class remains one of the most exclusive, luxurious, prestigious, and powerful SUVs on the planet.
In between, there is something for everyone starting with the new GLC, the GLK’s replacement; and the new GLE, the new-generation ML-Class. Let’s not forget the spacious and elegant GLS, a model that will eventually replace the current GL. No question about it, the Mercedes-Benz SUV range is the envy of other manufacturers, but the German automaker may not be satisfied yet.
Development of high-end prestige SUVs for Mercedes-Benz
There is another SUV niche that is just starting to take off, high-end prestige SUVs. Mercedes-Benz may just want to join the party currently occupied by the new Bentley Bentayga unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and Lamborghini who is coming soon with its own SUV, the URUS. Although Mercedes-Benz offers the G65 and its impressive combination of power and luxury offered at over $ 220,000, the manufacturer may want another SUV model that places the emphasis more on comfort and refinement.
Mercedes-Benz officials said in Frankfurt that such an SUV would be a logical extension. The automaker certainly has the skills and knowledge - and reputation - to design such a model.
