January 28 2022,
Mercedes-Benz continued to post strong sales results in 2021 despite a challenging environment that tested supply and created multiple challenges for automakers. Regardless, Mercedes-Benz registered an increase in the sales of 3.4% over 2020, selling 31,243 vehicles in the process.
The highlight of the 2021 year for Mercedes-Benz was the refined midsize Mercedes-Benz GLE. The GLE posted sales that were higher by 6.2% over 2020 which is quite surprising knowing that the model was introduced 2 years ago and had a very successful launch. The new Mercedes-Benz GLB small SUV with three rows of seats also had a great year, registering sales increases of 56.3 per cent compared to 2020. The Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, the iconic sport utility vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, also had a great year last year with sales increases of 47.8%.
Mercedes-Benz SUVs accounted for nearly 72% of Mercedes-Benz sales last year. That said, new cars like the redesigned Mercedes-Benz S-Class flagship had a great 2021 year with increases of over 24%.
Mercedes-Benz pre-owned Vehicles also did very well last year, registering total increases in sales of 9.8% and registering the best month ever for used Mercedes vehicles in March 2021.
“2021 was another year that tested our teams and national dealer network to deliver creative solutions for our customers in a safe environment, and I’m proud of what we achieved together. We experienced strong growth in Canada with our Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG and G-Class specialty brands, and this strong demand will give us the momentum we need as we accelerate into a new electric era. Customer interest is high for our upcoming lineup of Mercedes-EQ vehicles, from the EQS 580 4MATIC sedan to the family-friendly EQB SUV, and we look forward to working closely with all of our partners to begin this next electric chapter in our storied history,” said Eva Wiese, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada
