May 3, 2016 - Mercedes-Benz Canada maintains sales cadence in April
TORONTO, ON – Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that it retailed 4,231 units in April. These results have pushed the year-to-date totals to 15,061, an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year.
A total of 3,657 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were delivered in April. This represented an 8.4% year-to-date sales increase, with 12,864 units sold so far in 2016.
Over the course of the month, passenger car sales totaled 1,832, which in large part can be attributed to strong CLA and B-Class model sales, up 12% and 2.6% respectively. A remarkable 14.3% increase in sales of luxury light trucks allowed the company to exceed last year’s year-to-date results by 23.2%. Mercedes-AMG also continued its upward trajectory last month, with over 600 units sold.
Demand for the newly-introduced Metris and the Sprinter 4x4 helped Mercedes-Benz Vans maintain a strong sales pace, with April sales exceeding last year’s results by 17.4% for an overall increase of 14.9% in 2016.
Year-to-date smart sales are currently up 180.1% over last year, or 535 units in 2016.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division has seen a performance increase of 4.9% over last year, with 5,080 vehicles sold in 2016. Certified Pre-Owned sales maintained a steady pace with 4,101 units retailed and accounted for 80.7 % of the total volume of pre-owned sales. Pre-owned Vans sales have seen the most relative change, at 60.6% year-over-year.
“I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be returning home to Canada; even more so to lead Mercedes-Benz Canada, its highly-committed employees and dealer network,” said Brian D. Fulton, newly-appointed President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “I am thankful to my predecessor, Gareth T. Joyce, for his short but impactful tenure. The company is in an enviable position as the number 1 luxury manufacturer in Canada, and I look forward to furthering its success in the year ahead.”
