Mercedes-Benz Car-to-X technology can warn you of upcoming potholes
August 27 2021,
Mercedes-Benz has always been a leader in technological development in the automotive industry and it is therefore no surprise that the automaker is now working on giving its vehicles the ability to communicate with each other.
Now why would they want to do that? Well, for one, to warn each other of upcoming dangers on the road, or to help you avoid potholes.
With Mercedes-Benz Car-to-X technology, Mercedes-Benz vehicles communicate with each other. So, for example, imagine that a Mercedes-Benz is driving down the highway and hits a pothole. The vehicle now knows of a pothole in the road and can therefore communicate its presence to other Mercedes-Benz vehicles with Car-to-X technology. If you are in a vehicle approaching the pothole, you will be notified of its presence and can take the necessary steps to avoid it.
Of course, Car-to-X has loftier objectives in mind. If cars can communicate with each other, they can avoid each other which paves the way for truly self-driving cars. Moreover, the safety factor would be greatly improved if cars can detect another vehicle approaching through Car-to-X, giving it more time to react.
Mercedes-Benz also hopes to have its cars communicate with infrastructures, leading the way for smart traffic lights and parking garages.
Communication between cars is the next step in automotive vehicle development, and as usually, Mercedes-Benz is leading the way. Contact us today to learn more!
