Mercedes-Benz GLA vs Audi Q3: Advantage Mercedes-Benz
August 31 2018,
The luxury entry-level sport utility segment has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. At the top of the sales charts are two brands that are used to duking it out, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.
Mercedes-Benz has been offering the GLA to buyers looking for a small luxurious and affordable SUV for the past three years, while Audi is offering the Q3, a vehicle introduced in 2015, but which was actually designed a few years before.
The fact that the GLA is more modern than the Q3 makes this comparison a once-sided affair with the Mercedes-Benz largely dominating in terms of refinement and engine power and efficiency. In simple terms, these are two good SUVs but the GLA has the advantage. We only have to check the engine specifications for confirmation.
A more powerful and more efficient engine in the GLA
The Mercedes-Benz GLA is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired as standard with a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
In the case of the Audi Q3, it is entitled to a four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0 liter which develops 200 horsepower and 208 lb-ft of torque. Needless to say, there is a huge difference in road handling and acceleration. Also note that the GLA is available with an even more powerful engine making 345 horsepower in the AMG version.
Being more powerful than another model is one thing but being more fuel efficient is more difficult. However, the GLA has an average fuel consumption of less than 9.0 liters per 100 kilometers and on average consumes about 1.0 liter less per 100 kilometers than the Q3.
In other words, between the GLA and Q3, the most modern and therefore the most desireable option is certainly the GLA. Contact us today to find out more!
