Mercedes Broadens EQB Electric SUV Range with the 2024 EQB 300 4MATIC
April 23 2024,
Mercedes-Benz is expanding its lineup of compact electric SUVs for the 2024 model year with the introduction of the EQB 300 4MATIC. The all-wheel drive variant joins the existing front-wheel drive EQB 250+ and will arrive at Canadian dealers by the end of Q2 2024.
The EQB 300 4MATIC provides additional capability compared to the EQB 250+ thanks to its twin electric motor setup delivering power to all four wheels via Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. Total system output is rated at 225 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque from the front-mounted asynchronous electric motors.
Despite its compact footprint, the EQB boasts a spacious interior that can accommodate up to seven passengers with the optional third row. Efficient interior packaging yields generous cabin space in a vehicle measuring just 4,684 mm in length.
Mercedes has equipped the 2024 EQB 300 4MATIC with a 70.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack providing an estimated 340 km of electric driving range. When connected to a DC fast charger, the battery can recharge from 10-80% in around 32 minutes.
Canadian pricing for the 2024 EQB 300 4MATIC starts at $64,990. Depending on eligibility criteria, a federal incentive of up to $5,000 may apply, along with potential provincial electric vehicle rebates.
For the new model year, the EQB lineup receives some styling updates including a redesigned black panel front grille with integrated LED lighting elements. The interior gets enhancements to the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with improved voice assistant functionality.
Standard equipment highlights include a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, ambient lighting, power liftgate, and 10.25-inch digital displays. Advanced safety tech like adaptive high beam assist, active parking assist, and blind spot monitoring are also standard.
An optional Exclusive trim priced at $67,490 adds the KEYLESS-GO package, foot-activated trunk release, and an upgraded premium audio system over the base model.
Mercedes' charging ecosystem continues rapid expansion to support growing EV adoption. A new joint venture with MN8 Energy worth over $1 billion aims to install at least 2,500 ultrafast chargers across 400 locations in North America by 2030.
Additionally, the recently approved IONNA joint venture between Mercedes and six other automakers will deploy a minimum of 30,000 high-powered public charging points throughout the continent.
Mercedes me Charge provides EQB owners access to over 120,000 public charging stations across Canada and the United States through integrated payment processing.
