Ottawa Auto Show: 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class
March 19 2015,
Brand new since 2014, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class truly does radiate adventure and agility in its exterior design. Athletic and modern, the GLA-Class features tri-functional LED fibre optic headlights and a twin-louvre front grille. Sculpted body lines give the illusion of muscular movement, exemplifying the GLA’s sporty nature. Toeing the station wagon line, the GLA-Class offers up futuristic design elements that also tie in perfectly with the rest of the Mercedes family lineup, keeping true to the manufacturer’s design language.
The GLA-Class shares the same engines found in the CLA-Class: a 16V turbo I4 that produces 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque in the GLA 250 4MATIC, and 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque in the GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC. Both models feature Mercedes’ intuitive and highly functional all-wheel drive system (4MATIC), and power is controlled via 7G-DCT 7-speed automatic transmission that features three driver settings: Economy, Sport, and Manual. The 45 AMG version is equipped with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed automatic transmission that offers up sorter gear ratios and a sportier, livelier drive overall.
Sitting inside the 2015 GLA-Class is just as rewarding as looking at it from the outside. From the nappa-leather wrapped three-spoke steering wheel to the ARTICO upholstered seats, you’ll notice high-grade materials throughout that showoff just how luxurious this Mercedes-Benz is.
With 1,235 litres of cargo space available, as well as seating for five, this CUV truly is a compact and utilitarian vehicle. Small to behold on the outside, but offering up gobs of space and comfort on the inside, the GLA-Class straddles that line of practical and performance with ease, managing to cover both bases while looking good to boot.
