Ottawa Auto Show: 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC
March 17 2016,
We knew the Mercedes-Benz GLK, a small sport utility vehicle with pointed edges and a rather blocky design that most buyers, especially woman, seemed to really appreciate. We can now say goodbye to that square shape, and hello to the brand new GLC which is replacing the GLK both in name and in design. You can see the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC at the Ottawa Auto Show.
A new design for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC
You immediately notice that the 2016 Merceces-Benz GLC is a new vehicle, mostly because the vehicle’s design is now much more aligned with other recently introduced models in the German automaker’s lineup. You quickly notice the rounded lines and more sculpted overall design, along with the new grill that prominently features the manufacturer’s emblem in the middle.
Overall, the GLC dimensions are not far from those of the former GLK (it is 131 mm longer and 50 mm wider), but the new Mercedes-Benz compact luxury SUV still features more interior room and better driving dynamics. Thus, the new longer wheelbase -- it is now 2,873 mm -- allows for greater stability on the road, and means that there is now more room for your passengers. There is also more room in the cargo area that can now hold more than 1,600 liters.
Every Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 in Canada comes standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and the AMG design package is standard as well.
Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz GLC is a small turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that provides plenty of passing power with its 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The result, according to the manufacturer, is that the GLC can reach 100 km/h in about 7.3 seconds, combined with minimal fuel consumption.
