Say hello to the all-new 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 4MATIC+
February 21 2022,
The all-new 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 4MATIC+ unveiled this week isn’t just a new luxury electric sedan, it is a high-performance electric sedan that gives us a clear indication of where Mercedes-Benz is going in its electrification strategy. By implication Mercedes-AMG in the process and developing the new EQE 4MATIC+ to be not just a luxury EV, but a high-performance, corner-carving machine, Mercedes-Benz is telling us that it won’t dilute its personality even as we move towards electrification.
Performance meets refinement in the 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 4MATIC+
The 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 4MATIC+ will be powered by an advanced electric powertrain that blends two electric motors and a high-capacity battery. Each motor is in charge of powering one of the EQE’s axles, meaning that the new EV sedan from Mercedes-Benz will enjoy the added stability and improved handling of all-wheel drive.
This all-wheel drive system, like many of the new EQE’s technologies, will be adjustable according to the personality and performance we want to get out of our EQE. For example, multiple drive modes will be available including Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race Start without boost, and Race Start with boost. Each mode comes with specific percentage power inputs from the powertrain to adjust to the desired performance. In Slippery mode, for example, you get just 50% of the total output of the powertrain to ensure optimal handling and performance in difficult conditions.
Inversely, the Race Start with Boost gives you an added performance boost at the start to create the most dynamic, most powerful accelerations.
And how much power does the 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE actually deliver? Quite a lot. The base powertrain setup delivers 617 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque, good enough to reach 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. That said, the boost mode as well as models equipped with an available performance package from AMG will deliver 677 horsepower and a stunning 738 pound-feet of torque! That’s enough to reach 100 km/h in about 3.3 seconds.
Impressive battery capacity and quick charging times
The 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 4MATIC+ will offer quick charging capacity with its 90.6 kWh battery. This battery can charge up to 180 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes on a 170-kWh charger.
As for total range, Mercedes-Benz says the EQE 4MATIC+ will offer between 444 kilometres and 518 kilometres of range depending on the model on the WLTP cycle. The EPA results should be similar, and we expect the EQE 4MATIC+ could offer up to 500 kilometres.
