The all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC introduced earlier this year and confirmed for next year will offer a wide range of new and improved features. Among the many new technologies offered in the redesigned GLC, we find multiple new systems designed to improve towing capability and make attaching a trailer a lot easier. Here are a few of the impressive new technologies found on the upcoming GLC that will make life easier for anyone looking to tow with their GLC SUV.
Trailer Manoeuvring Assist
The enhanced Trailer Manoeuvring Assist (optional) is there to help you tow with ease, and will make the process a lot easier and safer. The system automatically adjusts the steering angle of the towing vehicle at a speed of 5km/h and an uphill gradient of 15 percent. The device can also be controlled intuitively through MBUX. Besides stabilizing the combination when reversing, the system is also capable of guiding it to steer through bends up to 90 degrees. As long as the towing vehicle maintains the selected angle automatically, the steering will remain in place. As a result, trailers can be positioned with precision and safety. When the trailer has reached the desired direction and is to reverse straight ahead, the driver can select the "pull straight" function. Viewing the manoeuvring process from different camera perspectives is available on the central display. Vehicle width, trajectory, and distance from recognized objects are shown with dynamic guide lines.
Plan your route for your specific trailer
With the towing route planner, you can plan routes that are suitable for driving with the previously defined trailer in the central display. This is done by taking into account, for example, the width and height of passages. By using the trailer menu in MBUX, you can specify the trailer to be used. Following the electrical connection, the system inquires about the trailer coupling's intended purpose and determines the type of load being towed. Taking the information into account is important when planning a towing route. With these and a number of other advanced towing functions, towing with the new 2023 GLC is a lot more enjoyable.
