What is Mercedes me Charge?
January 27 2022,
Electric vehicles are the talk of the town, and more and more automakers are planning to push a full lineup of EVs in the next few years. Mercedes-Benz is no exception, planning a wide range of new electric vehicles for Canada including the Mercedes-Benz EQB small SUV and Mercedes-Benz EQE midsize electric sedan. These vehicles will require a charging infrastructure and Mercedes-Benz is already expanding its very own network to make life easier for future EV owners.
Called the Mercedes me Charge network, this ecosystem of charging stations can be found across Canada. Late last year, Mercedes-Benz announced plans to significantly expand its Mercedes me Charge network in Quebec and Eastern Ontario with the addition of 3,300 additional charging stations, bringing the total number to nearly 9,000 across the country. Of these, 500 new stations will have DC fast charging capability, bringing the total number of DC fast chargers on the Mercedes me Charge network to 1,300. DC Fast chargers allow Mercedes EQ vehicles like the new EQS to charge to 80% in around 30 minutes.
Moreover, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it will offer Plug & Charge functionality in 2022, meaning that users need only open their charging port door and plug-in the charger. Nothing else is required to charge your Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle.
"Mercedes-Benz Canada is thrilled that drivers of our electric vehicles will be able to seamlessly charge on the Hydro-Québec network via the Mercedes me connect app and dashboard. This new integration with Electric Circuit will significantly increase Mercedes-EQ drivers’ access to EV charging stations across Québec and in Eastern Ontario, including a major boost to the number of DC fast charging stations in the Mercedes me Charge ecosystem. We expect Québec to be a truly important market for the exceptional Mercedes-EQ product lineup, and our customers in Québec and around the country can be excited about the clean, digitally-integrated, fast and convenient charging experience they will be able to enjoy. I want to thank all of our critical charging partners for making this happen and celebrate this moment of industry collaboration, “ said Eva Wiese, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada
