2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe, pure seduction
August 19 2014,
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup provides buyers with a selection of luxurious vehicles that range from sedans, wagons, cabriolets and coupes. Although all models are a worthy choice, our focus is on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe, which provides consumers with a great ride, a choice of two powerful engines, a smooth-shifting transmission, and the option of 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive.
With a starting price of $62,000 MSRP, the 2014 E-Class coupe is an intriguing option, especially when considering its sleek and sporty styling that somehow manages to continuously steer our gaze towards it. The coupe comes available in three models: the E 350, E 350 4MATIC, and the E550. Whatever you choose, the vehicle will include standard AMG body styling. The V-shaped front bumper, the chrome wing spoiler, the visually pleasing arc of the side sills, and 18-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels are just a few elements that add to the vehicle’s visual appeal. Expect to get noticed.
Under the hood, the E 350 is equipped with a V6 engine that generates 302 horsepower, and 273 pound-feet of torque. It also has a fuel economy rating of 10.5/6.9 litres per 100 kilometres (city/highway). The E 350 4MATIC, on the other hand, is also equipped with the same engine, though instead of rear-wheel drive, buyers can benefit from the automaker’s permanent all-wheel drive system.
The top model in the coupe lineup, the E 550, ditches the V6 for a V8 bi-turbo engine that will produce 402 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque between 1,600 and 4,750 rpm. This last model has a top speed of 210 km/h, and can move from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Consumers should also note that it is a rear-wheel drive vehicle, much like the E 350, and like all vehicles in the lineup, is mated to a 7G-TRONIC PLUS: a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Each shift is also done at optimum engine speed, which not only provides drivers with quicker acceleration, but it results in reduced fuel consumption as well. Quick bursts of speed also make for an incredibly enjoyable driving experience. You can also pre-select one of two drive modes: “E” (Economy), the more fuel-efficient mode, or “S” (Sport) for a sportier, more dynamic drive. Depending on the model, the “M” (Manual) mode provides owners of the 2014 E-Class coupe with even faster gearshifts.
Inside the coupe, consumers will also find a list of the automaker’s “Intelligent Drive” safety technologies. Depending on the model, some elements include Distronic Plus with Steer Assist, Bas Plus with Cross Traffic Assist, and Pre-Safe Brake with Pedestrian Detection. The latter system will autonomously brake if a pedestrian is detected, from an initial speed of up to 50 km/h.
There are other technologies to consider as well, but in terms of comfort and convenience features, we suggest taking a look at the Command system with HDD navigation and a 6-disc DVD changer. This feature combines all audio, telephone and navigation functions. In addition, the standard surround sound system with Dolby Digital 5.1 makes driving the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe that much more entertaining, and satellite radio is always appreciated.
Every Mercedes-Benz vehicle comes equipped or available with a wide range of features and high-end technologies that not only provides occupants with comfort and entertainment, but enhanced safety as well.
