2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2022 BMW X5: battle at the top
October 13 2021,
When it comes to Mercedes-Benz and BMW, we're talking about one of the most incredible rivalries in any field. And of course, across the industry, it's THE rivalry that captures everyone's attention.
So in every category where one has a model, the other has a competitor. The case of the two products competing here is interesting because it shows how strong this rivalry is between the two companies.
Indeed, when mid-size luxury SUVs were not yet fashionable in the automotive world, Mercedes-Benz (1997) and BMW (2000) were already working on them.
And two decades later, who do you think offers the most relevant and complete model? The truth is that each has its qualities. Both offer everything to consumers. However, there is something about Mercedes-Benz that remains compelling.
Let's start with the styling. While the BMW X5 looks good, it hasn't really brought anything new to the design for years. The grille is still the same and the general image of the model does not progress. It's the opposite with the GLE. The current edition is an evolution of all those that came before it. And the GLE's styling has that little something that the X5 lacks, that perfect blend of sportiness and aggressiveness, as well as luxury and elegance.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE has an incredible presence.
Inside, we could make the same observation. Things are slowly evolving at BMW. It's nice and high quality in the X5, but the presentation is miles away from what it is in the Benz. The interior of the GLE exudes luxury, but it also offers a door to the future with a modern presentation, dominated by the most impressive multimedia screen in the industry.
And what about what's behind it, the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system? Once again, Mercedes shows its superiority here with a more trendy and advanced approach, one that allows for very advanced interaction with voice recognition. MBUX is in fact a personal assistant, which the iDrive system is not at BMW.
And finally, a detail not to be overlooked, there is a lot more space in the back of the GLE. In total, the cargo volume reaches 2055 liters when the seats are folded down behind the first row; the X5 only offers 1870 liters.
In truth, the Mercedes-Benz GLE is more interesting than the BMW X5 in 2022 for its overall package. A detour to the dealership to discover it will make you realize that.
