2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE: the future is coming
September 21 2021,
Mercedes-Benz is serious about going electric. Over the next few years, a multitude of all-electric vehicles will make up the lineup. Towards the end of 2022, we'll see the addition of the new EQE, a car that will be the electrified equivalent of the current E-Class.
Its arrival is not for tomorrow, but what we know about it makes us want to see it arrive as soon as possible.
Here's what's in store for the EQE.
Two versions
Initially, two versions of the model will be released. Of course, it's too early to know if we'll get both, but we can assume that we will. Basically, we should find an EQE350 model that will be equipped with an electric motor and a rear-wheel drive configuration. It will have 288 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, all from a 90.6 kWh battery. A 0-97 km/h time of 5.6 seconds will be possible.
Nothing is left to chance here. As for recharging, on a 240V outlet, it will take 9.5 hours to bring the battery capacity from 10 to 100%. On a level 3 fast terminal, it will take 31 minutes to jump from 10% to 80% of the battery's autonomy.
A two-motor model, more powerful and more capable in every way, will follow. With all-wheel drive, of course. As for the EQE350's range, it's said to be close to 500 kilometers.
Comfort
On the road, the ride will be unbelievably quiet, obviously because of the absence of a combustion engine, but also because of the air suspension. The model will also benefit from directional rear wheels for increased maneuverability. In base configuration, the EQE will float on 19-inch wheels, but larger, AMG-designed wheels are also a strong possibility.
Futuristic interior
On board, it will be possible to go for a more "conventional" approach, but let's bet that the majority of buyers will opt for the Hyperscreen. Basically, we're talking about a screen that covers the entire dashboard. Consecutively, it is divided into three modules of 12.3, 17.7 and 12.3 inches, units that will respectively rest in front of the driver, on the center console and in front of the passenger. The multitude of functions that will be accessible promises to be exhaustive. Of course, the Mercedes-Benz multimedia system, MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), will be the cornerstone of all this. Note the presence of a floating center console, which offers generous storage space for handbags on the floor.
All of this will of course be complemented by the impeccable quality of the materials and their assembly, ambient lighting with infinite colors, and seats offering divine massage sessions.
The EQE will be positioned below the EQS in the lineup, and to put it in perspective, it will take on a format that falls between that of Tesla's Model 3 and Model S. Really, you get more from Mercedes-Benz.
