2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS: Three Things to Know
March 11 2022,
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS is the brand-new electric flagship sedan from Mercedes which sits alongside the gasoline powered S-Class in the lineup in terms of prestige and luxury.
The latest tech in powertrain engineering
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS features all of the latest advancements in electric vehicle propulsion technology. This makes it one of the fastest sedans on the road, despite a long battery range. The two electric motors take their energy from a 107.8 kWh battery in order to deliver a combined output of 516 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque, which is sufficient to propel the EQS to 100 km/h from a stop in only 4.3 seconds. The range can reach up to 547 kilometers on a single charge and the battery can be replenished from 10% to 100% in only 37 minutes when using a 200 kW DC fast charger.
The Hyperscreen
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS is the brand’s first vehicle to use the new MBUX hyperscreen. This giant screen incorporates three displays under a single 56-inch pane of glass that covers the entire instrument panel from door to door. In front of the driver, the display acts as the gauge cluster by providing information relevant to know when driving, such as the vehicle speed and the battery’s state of charge. In the middle, the infotainment system takes up most of the space with its touchscreen that allows control over all of the vehicle functions, including the sound system and the climate control. In front of the passenger, a third screen can be used to control the infotainment system when the vehicle is in motion and to allow the passenger to be entertained on longer drives.
A Dynamic Chassis
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS is not only powerful, but it is also equipped with a chassis and a suspension which are able to back its performance. The AIRMATIC suspension uses air as the dampening element in order to provide a fully customisable ride. The system can vary air pressures at each wheel in order to keep the car level and to provide the most comfortable or the most dynamic ride and handling compromise, depending on which driving mode you choose. In addition, the rear axle is equipped with a steering system that can angle the rear wheels by up to 10 degrees in order to improve stability at high speeds and make parking easier.
