Mercedes-Benz E-Class: better than ever in 2021
February 19 2021,
The E-Class is one of the most important vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz lineup. All over the world, it is offered to those who are looking for the ultimate in luxury. For 2021, it benefits from small improvements that keep it up to date, but above all, it's as varied and relevant as ever.
For the new year, the designers have redesigned the front and back to add a touch of modernity. The front shows new headlights, the rear lights have been redesigned. What doesn't change is the possibility of choosing between four body styles: sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible.
Inside, Mercedes-Benz improved on a recipe that was already close to perfection. In addition to the features that were already appreciated, such as front seats with massage function (optional), a configurable screen on the instrument cluster, ambient lighting with 64 colours, as well as Burmester's audio system, the MBUX multimedia system was added this year, which first appeared in the A-Class in 2019. The latter offers intelligent interaction between the machine and the human, which takes voice command functions to another level.
And as for the versions offered with the 2021 E-Class, it's the panacea. The sedan, for example, can be delivered in four different ways: in the 350 4MATIC, 450 4MATIC, AMG E 53 4MATIC, AMG E 63 S 4MATIC configurations.
With the E350, you get a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that's good for 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. With the E450, you get a new 3-litre twin-turbo inline-6 that offers 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. When the E53 AMG model is chosen, the power output increases to 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. Then, with the E63 S AMG, power is pushed to 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque thanks to a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
The wagon variant can be prepared in three ways: 450 4MATIC, E 53 4MATIC AMG and E 63 S AMG 4MATIC. The coupé and convertible are served in the 450 and E 53 configurations. Here too, 4MATIC all-wheel drive is standard. A nine-speed automatic transmission is mated to all the powertrains, but it sometimes benefits from different settings depending on the engine it's paired to.
And, of course, regardless of the version, the 2021 E-Class is always as solid as ever for the person behind the wheel. This car offers perfect balance, the comfort of a limousine and a high level of road handling, thanks to the superb chassis that houses it.
