Spring Maintenance Guide for your Mercedes-Benz
March 29 2021,
When you choose a Mercedes-Benz, you've chosen quality and the best automotive experience available. In order to present the fullness of that experience, it's important to perform the necessary maintenance in the spring and fall to get you through the next season. In this case, we are of course referring to summer that is just around the corner.
There are many things to check and a visit to the Mercedes-Benz dealership will allow you to not forget anything. Before proceeding, here's a little guide that tells you what to look for.
Oil change
Regular oil changes (at different intervals if you use synthetic oil) are essential to maintaining a healthy engine. It's natural for your engine to absorb impurities while the engine oil lubricates and cools it, which is fine. However, over time, the oil loses its effectiveness. That's why it needs to be replaced, along with the oil filter. If you use an old motor oil, it becomes more difficult for the oil to do its job of protecting your engine. And consider that winter oil is not the same as summer oil. Make an appointment soon so you can enjoy the warm weather without having to worry.
Battery inspection/replacement.
During the winter, your battery works harder by slowing down chemical reactions. Now that the weather is getting warmer, there is a possibility that you may have problems with your battery. Make an appointment with one of our service technicians to have your vehicle's battery inspected so you don't have to deal with a car that refuses to start without warning.
Checking your tires
It's time to get your summer tires installed. It's also the perfect time to check that the tread is still in good condition. Without enough tread (less than 5/32"), your tires have less grip on the road, which can be problematic in wet conditions or during a sudden stop. Also, consider this. If you have an AMG model, for example, worn tires will never allow you to exploit the capabilities of your vehicle. So, ask your Mercedes-Benz expert to recommend the right tires for your vehicle and the right time to replace them.
Wiper blades
After a long winter of wiping snow and ice from your windshield, your wiper blades may not be as effective as they once were. If they seem to be spraying water on the glass surface or simply not doing their job properly, it may be time to replace them. And here, quality comes at a price. Don't hesitate to spend a little more; your safety is at stake. And don't forget to top off your wiper fluid reservoir; it's not used as much in the summer, but you may need it at any time.
Inspect your brakes
Your Mercedes-Benz vehicle has an efficient and sophisticated brake system. Again, because of the performance your model provides, it's important to have brakes that are in good condition and up to the task that's required of them. Pads, discs, lines, fluid, everything needs to be checked. A simple cleaning could be enough. What matters is to take a look at them.
There are many other things that need to be checked in the spring, such as the coolant level or the proper functioning of the headlights and lights. Your Mercedes-Benz expert will be able to advise you on how to carry out a thorough examination.
