The five secrets of the Mercedes-Benz MBUX system
November 20 2020,
Since its debut, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system has been a sensation throughout the industry. Rarely has such a comprehensive and user-friendly system been seen at the same time. Often, we had one, but not the other. Here, everything works like clockwork and the possibilities are virtually unlimited. Here are five things to know about Mercedes-Benz's multimedia approach.
1 - Clarity and personalization
When you climb aboard a Mercedes-Benz product, you're in front of a huge screen that extends from the instrument cluster to the center console. In fact, the latter represents the MBUX system and offers different display groupings. In front of our eyes, for example, we can enjoy different combinations according to our preferences. With a destination in the navigation system, we can choose to have the directions permanently in our field of vision. The possibilities here are practically endless. And, it should be pointed out, the clarity of the display, as well as the clarity of the system's colors, is incredible; a treat for the eyes.
2 - Augmented reality
Reference was made to the navigation system. With MBUX technology, it is possible to take advantage of guidance with the augmented reality function. What does the latter do? It can, for example, display the names of streets and directions to be taken directly on the screen when you are at low speed, such as at an intersection. We then take advantage of the image in front of the vehicle, but with the names of the streets on the screen. In the evening, when you can't see anything, it's absolutely magical.
3 - " Hey, Mercedes "
"Hey, Mercedes". That's all you have to say at the beginning of a sentence when you want to get in touch with the system's speech recognition function. And from there on, the possibilities are crazy. You can ask the system to set the temperature to 20 degrees precisely, for example, or ask it to tune to a particular channel.
4 - A system that learns
And it's nothing. If you're used to listening to a specific radio at a specific time each day, the system will remember it and ask you if you want to do so when the time comes. Same thing if you're used to making a phone call to your better half when you get home from work in the late afternoon. The system "learns" by recording your habits.
5 - User-friendly and accessible
Finally, perhaps the most amazing thing about the system is the level of interactivity it offers. Are you more comfortable with touchscreen functions? You can go that way. If it's commands and a keypad on the console that you prefer, you also have that option, as well as the option to go to voice commands. The steering wheel even has two small touchpads on each side for easy and safe access while in traffic. It's impossible not to get the most out of it.
